Membership Policy & By-Laws
|
1. Being a member of SODA is an honor and a privilege
2. All students wanting to become members of SODA must complete and
sign the drug and alcohol-free pledge and
return it to one of the sponsors before December 1st of that school year.
Once the pledge is submitted to the sponsors the student will receive a
membership card and SODA item.
3. All students in SODA are expected to follow the stated goal and
objectives on the pledge sheet
4. To remain a member of SODA each student must participate in or
attend at least two functions. These functions could be meetings,
speaking engagements, social activities, planning meetings or other.
5. It is not ethical for a student not in SODA to claim themselves as
a member.
6. If a member of SODA has violated their pledge or if there is
suspicion that they have violated their pledge a club member is to report
this in confidence to an adult soda sponsor. At that time the sponsor
will determine the status of the membership of the student. If needed,
the sponsor may refer to the Peer Council to determine their recommendation
of the standing of the SODA member suspected of violation of their pledge.
The sponsor will facilitate this process.
7. Students must sign their pledge during the first semester to become
a member. When a student is new and moved in after school has started,
they can sign their membership pledge when they become aware of the SODA
program.
