A. Financial Report: Elgin State Bank, Period Ending 2/14/2007 ~
$8,319.83
- discussion was brought up by Allen Knox on the status of the
Mentoring fund.
- there is enough money to cover two months of mentoring, several
grants have been written to cover mentoring, but we are waiting to hear if we
will receive any of them. We have received the ACE Unclaimed property grant, but
are waiting to find out the amount of the grant.
- Stephanie will be handing out a more detailed budget.
B. Reports from Sub-Groups
- Cassie and Malinda attended a Prevention Specialist Training in Ames.
1. Youth
- Coral Ridge Mall SODA Trip – rescheduled for Monday,
March 26th
- All Stars had 120 people at the graduation. 29
kids graduated!!!!!!!
- Valentine’s Day Dance had 38 kids and SODA made over
$70.00 Mr. Fox wants to collaborate again sometime soon.
- Clermont Neighborhood Watch has annual potluck on
April 5th at Clermont Opera House. SODA will be doing a Fatal Vision
Goggle Presentation.
- Cyber-Bullying is a youth led project. We will be
collaborating with the school by providing snacks on March 20th.
- Tim Butikofer has donated a brand new air hockey table
to the YC. Students decided whoever sells the most stuff in a fund-raiser will
“win” the old air hockey table.
2. Parent
- Welcome baskets are finished and in the process of
being delivered.
- Do you know of anyone who would be interested in
becoming involved with the Parent/Community Subgroup?
3. Community
- Celebrate Families class was not offered due to lack
of interest.
- Online Predator Training – 5 mentors and 2 community
members attended.
4. Mentoring
- Mentoring Subgroup Meeting Wednesday, March 7th
at 5:00 pm.
- Successful cross country skiing activity. 11 people
attended!
- Possibly going to a Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball
game in April.
- Currently 7 mentor/mentee matches, 5 mentors waiting.
C. Golf Tournament
- Jenny Stolka is heading up the golf tournament.
- VCC will not be sponsoring the tournament; however, all proceeds
go to Valley Mentoring this year.
- KVIK is coming down for the afternoon.
- the golf course will be doing the lunch.
D. DFC grant update
- Grant due APRIL 17th!!!!!!!!!!
- taking the approach, we’ve accomplished a lot in 5 years, but this
is what we can do with another 5 years….
- we are in the process of narrowing down what the main problems
are.
E. Office Heat
- It’s WORKING!!
F. Potential Presenters
-Jim Davis approached Malinda about having 2 guys who are recovering
meth users be the presenters
- Malinda and Allen Knox would like to meet the two men who would be
speaking.
G. Next All-VCC meeting,
- April 18th
- Staff is checking to see who is next in line to serve. It
may be Barney’s turn.
- After the meal, we may start by showing a 20 minute video followed
by the two speakers
H. Needs: Digital Camera, Refrigerator….
- ST gave the OK to get another fridge.
- Malinda will contact Rockweiller’s, John’s Hardware and Allen
–Clermont
Hardware
- ST gave the OK to purchase a digital camera for $200-$300.
- Check with Renee on specifications for web page.
I. SODA Scholarship
- Copy of the scholarship application was handed out and approved by
the ST.
- The $1,000 scholarship applications will be available to students
soon.
J. VCC Fund Development update/report
- 50 FD letters are being sent out a week.
