.Steering Team Meeting Minutes

Tuesday February 6, 2007

5:00-6:30 PM

Valley Media Center

 

In attendance: Sheryl Butikofer, Alice Schaer, Stephanie Murphy, Allen Knox, Dave Runyon, Sharon Rich, and Michelle Rothlisberger

 

A. Financial Report:      Elgin State Bank, Period Ending 1/10/2007       ~ $6,524.54

            - The question was asked, how much of the mentoring grant is left, Sharon Rich informed the ST that the mentoring grant has been used up.

 

B. Reports from Sub-Groups

            1. Youth

                        - SODA Basket Fund-Raiser made $2,100 with 38 baskets.

                        - All Stars graduation will be February 26, 2007 from 6-8PM at West Clermont Church

                        - Clermont Neighborhood Watch Annual Potluck will be April 5th.  SODA will be doing a fatal vision goggle demonstration.

                        - Valentine’s Day Dance will be Feb. 16th from 9-11 PM at the YC

                        - Livingstone has asked to use the YC on Feb. 17 and March 24 – ST approved the request.

                        - Coral Ridge Mall SODA Trip will be Feb. 24th

                        - Winter Fun Day was great.  70 people joined in on the fun

           

            2. Parent

                        - Working on Welcome Baskets.  They are being distributed this week.

                        - An interest has been voiced about looking into Social Host Policy/Laws

            3. Community

                        - Celebrate Families class will be offered for 2nd and 3rd grade families

                        - Online Predator Training -  Monday March 5th at 5:30 at Elgin Library

                                    Available to the community, advertising will be out middle of Feb.

            4. Mentoring

                        - Mentoring Event was Feb. 10th, Cross Country Skiing

                        - If more Mentoring Programs join our partnership, the money that Valley Mentoring receives will be decreased.  Are we still interested in being part of this group? 

                        - January was National Mentoring Month.

                        - Reviewed recommended budget

 

C. Family Winter Fun Day discussion

            - Reminder: any decisions for activities need to be brought before the Steering Team for approval.

 

D. Follow – up on Planning Meeting, January 13, next step??

            - Michelle will be sending out an email and hard copy of meeting notes to the ST and those in attendance of the meeting. 

            - Linda suggested getting a grant support team together. 

            - April ST meeting plan to review the Grant Application

 

E. Office Heat

            - Getting better, accept for Mondays because the heat gets turned off over the weekend.

            - Tim Olson installed ceiling fans in the office and YC

 

F. Reflection on All-VCC Meeting, January 31

            - Wonderful, good length of time, nice baskets, great to see coaches!

 

G. Next All-VCC meeting,

            - Possible date of April 18th

            -Jim Davis approached Malinda about having 2 guys who are recovering meth users be the presenters.

 

H. Webpage information

            - Renee Matt is willing to continue the web page.

 

I. VCC Fund Development update/report

            - Golf Tournament meeting was held after ST meeting

            - The tournament will focus on Mentoring because that is where the need is. 

            - 50 FD letters are being sent out at a time.

            - Gary Anderson is currently working on several grants.

 

Other Reports and Information

            - Michelle asked about purchasing for the Newsletter the Indesign computer program along with a two day training session with Bethany Hackmann.  Dave said DFC could cover the cost and to turn in a supply request.
